At the December 12, 2017 meeting the Board approved a referral requesting that the Office of the Sheriff, the Department of Correction and the Office of the County Executive work together to procure expert assistance to conduct a staffing study of the Santa Clara County jails. The referral asked for the study to also include Custody Health Services (CHS) by asking for the analysis to include programmatic, and medical and behavioral health service needs of the current jail population and the future jail population in order to propose adequate staffing. The jail staffing study is currently in progress and is being conducted by a consulting firm procured by the Office of the County Executive. This study does not include a staffing analysis of Custody Health Services.
