Approval of the Recommended Action will allow for the California Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Grant Memorandum of Understanding for the second round of funding to be extended through December 31, 2020. The MAT Grant funding was provided to the County in two separate rounds. The first round of funding was for $25,000 and the second round of funding totaled $310,000 for the implementation of specific and approved strategies to expand access to medication assisted treatment of opioid addiction in County jails. The agreements for both rounds of funding are currently set to end on August 31, 2020. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the grantor has allowed the grant period to be extended through December 31, 2020 for the second round of funding. Extending the agreement period for the second round of funding will allow for the work proposed under the grant to fully support and enhance MAT services available in the jails to continue through the end of 2020.
