The recommended loan would maintain permanent supportive housing for five adults with a serious mental illness. The loan would enable Allied Housing to complete the acquisition and rehabilitation of a single family residence in San Jose. The home’s current residents are clients of the County’s specialty mental health system. From time to time, residents at the home may move out; the BHSD would make all referrals to fill vacancies. The home would become a part of the BHSD’s growing supportive housing inventory. The loan would secure the home’s affordability levels for 55 years. Housing is a critical need among adults with a serious mental illness, who often have very limited incomes and who still experience significant stigma and discrimination in the community.
