The recommended action would amend each of the four travel nurse agreements to increase the combined maximum financial obligation for the four travel nurse staffing contracts from $1,500,000 to $4,100,000. The increase in the maximum financial obligation is needed to ensure the funding to provide travel nurse staffing for four separate initiatives:
(1) Six travel nurses for the period of November 7, 2016 through June 30, 2017 to provide the additional nurse staffing needed to provide more comprehensive suicide risk screening for inmates during the intake process. The cost of this additional nurse staffing is approximately $850,000.
(2) Nine travel nurses for the period of December 19, 2016 through March 19, 2017 to provide the additional nurse staffing needed to provide coverage for SCVMC Surgical Services during Healthlink training and Go-Live scheduled for February 25, 2017. The cost of this additional nurse staffing is approximately $750,000.
(3) Six travel nurses for the period of February 6, 2017 through June 11, 2017 to provide the additional nurse staffing needed to backfill for six Custody Health staff nurses who will be utilized as credentialed Healthlink trainers. These credentialed trainers will be utilized to train all Super Users and will be a resource to Custody Health staff as the subject matter experts throughout the implementation and Go-Live of Healthlink. The cost of this additional nurse staffing would be approximately $500,000.
(4) Thirty-five travel nurses for the period of March 6, 2017 through June 11, 2017 to provide the additional nurse staffing coverage needed to backfill for thirty-five Custody Health staff nurses who will be Super Users who will provide training directly to staff during the Healthlink training and Go-Live. The cost of this additional nurse staffing would be approximately $2,000,000.
