The cost to the County of the new facility, demolition of the old jail, and replacement of demolished office space is projected to be $257 million, and this is net of $80 million in SB 863 bond funding. Presently, $54 million has already been approved by the Board for this project. The County will be responsible for funding the entire facility, although this will be offset by the $80 million in State funds that will be remitted to the County. The State funds will be in the form of a reimbursement as the construction phase of the project begins.
