Approved the implementation of a Home Detention Program to allow releases of appropriate persons serving misdemeanor sentences in the County jails in order to reduce the jail population as a means of limiting the spread of COVID-19 in the jail system.

COVID-19 was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers the virus to be a very serious public health threat, based on current information.  In part, the virus is considered a serious public health threat because much is unknown.  Currently, there is no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19.
