On September 13, 2016 the Board of Supervisors approved the Jail Diversion Program with nine recommendations that were moved favorably to the Board by the Jail Diversion and Behavioral Health Subcommittee. One of the recommendations was to develop a Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center. The Jail Diversion Subcommittee suggested that such a Center be modeled after the Restoration Center in Bexar County, Texas. The broad goal of such a center would be to provide individuals with behavioral health issues assessment and services that would divert them into treatment and the appropriate level of care in the community as opposed to jail or Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS). The Center would also be a drop-off point for law enforcement agencies.
